Isothermal normalizing is heating ordinary carbon steel austenitizing, heating temperature and holding time is the same as ordinary normalizing. After the heat preservation, the steel is cooled to the nose of the S-curve (the shortest incubation period, the temperature is about 550~600℃), isotherm is maintained, so that the transformation of the undercooled austenite is completed in this temperature range, and the pearlite structure is finer (compared with isothermal annealing), and then air cooling, in order to obtain better processing and mechanical properties of the heat treatment process.
The process cycle of isothermal normalizing is shorter than that of ordinary isothermal annealing and the microstructure is more uniform.
